Synopsis
On what would otherwise have been a normal day, the merchant ship Waterbird arrived in port, carrying passengers Hawk and Claudius, as well as Medine in the capacity of a guard.
Upon hearing of the mysterious disappearance of one Epinora and three local children, Medine felt obliged to stay behind and aid in the search.
Circe and Caylix encountered the visitors in their usual fleecing of newcomers, as Saranac looked on in silence. The travelers introduced themselves to Murta, patron of the Seashells tavern and grill. Claudius learned to avoid the "native" fish...or did he?The party formed an impromptu search group to find Epinora and the missing children, with the locals leading the way. On the way, they encountered a troublesome fell drake and some kobolds. The latter seemed to be affiliated with the Drakkar clan, an organization of draconians and those who worship the draconiform gods of destruction.
The party camped on Promontory Peak, and were set upon by krenshar. They were victorious, though it was certainly a trying fight. They moved on through the forested hills at the base of Mt. Otemba on their way to the Cave of the Fire God.
In the cave, they encountered more kobolds, including some shamans who were conducting rituals over some sort of super-heated fire water that ran through the cave. They defeated several larger draconians, and foiled a plot to offer Epinora and the children as sacrifices to the Fire God.
Before they could escape, the Fire God appeared, in the form of a monstrous form of fire, and attacked the party. The fight was very difficult, but the party prevailed. At the conclusion, the Fire God's form coalesced into an orb, which Caylix seized, upon which it was absorbed into his body. With that, the fiery manifestations in the cave faded, and it became normal once again.
The party escorted Epinora and the children back to town and rested...right after sorting through their considerable treasure haul.
